In curating our creatively designed collections, it is our vision to support local artisans and share their stories.

To commemorate this Mid-Autumn Festival, our first collection is a collaboration with Ching Han Guan [CHG], a famous artisan baker in Ipoh. We offered three uniquely crafted mooncake sets : CAN-TEEN, TAPAO ME HOME! and STEAMING WITH HAPPINESS.

We played Cupid & married both tradition and contemporary elements when designing this collection. View the full range here.

When it comes to traditional handmade pastries and mooncakes, CHG immediately stands out. One of the most amazing mooncake flavours you'll ever have is their BBQ Meat with Lotus Paste & Egg Yolk - a CHG signature. It's so addictive that we've made sure to feature this in our collection so Don't Say We BOJIO!

CHG dates all the way back to 1949, when founder Ching Peng Han from Chaoyang, Guangdong Province migrated to the then-Malaya with his young wife (pictured far-right in below photograph) and set up shop in Ipoh. Now run by Ching's grandchildren, the family business has preserved tradition by using century-old family recipes while continuously innovating to satisfy modern tastes.

Here's a fun fact! Recognise the familiar face in the photo? That was the late Stephen Hawking, a renowned theoretical physicist best known for his discovery of black holes. On his only trip to Malaysia in 1994 to deliver a public lecture at PWTC, he made a special trip to Ipoh just to visit CHG - the home & family business of his personal nurse, Ms. Ching.
